Wise Business Account Setup for US LLCs and UK Ltds

Prepare your company’s Wise Business application with us, in your own name, with no approval promises.

Quick answer

A Wise Business account lets a US LLC or UK Ltd hold, receive and convert money in many currencies for a one-time setup fee (31 USD on Wise’s US pricing page, 50 GBP on its UK page). Wise verifies the company, its physical address and everyone owning 25% or more. It cannot onboard Nevada businesses, and residents of Pakistan cannot sign up directly. We prepare the application with you; Wise decides.

What this service is and who it is for

This service helps founders open a Wise Business account for their own US LLC or UK Ltd. Our filing team prepares the company documents, fills in the application with you, helps you answer Wise’s verification questions and follows up until Wise gives its decision.

The account is opened in your company’s name with your true details. You complete your own identity checks, and you set your own password and two-step login from the first day. We never hold your login, never open accounts in anyone else’s name and never sell pre-made accounts. Wise decides every application, and we cannot promise approval.

What a Wise Business account does

Wise Business is a multi-currency account for receiving, holding, converting and sending money. Wise’s US pricing page describes account details to receive in 22 currencies, so a client in the UK can pay you by a local GBP transfer and a US client by a domestic USD payment. Many founders use it next to a US dollar account from another provider, or as the main account where US banking is not available to them.

Wise Business fees

Wise charges a one-time setup fee and then per-transaction fees, with no monthly fee shown on its pricing pages. The table uses Wise’s US business pricing and UK business pricing pages.

There is no government fee for a Wise account. Wise changes its fees from time to time, so check the pricing page on the day you sign up.

What Wise asks a US LLC for

Wise’s guide to verifying your US business lists the information it collects:

  • Business name, company type and EIN.
  • Registered address (where the business was incorporated) and trading address (your primary place of business, where you work every day).
  • A physical address. Wise does not accept PO boxes, registration agencies, mail forwarding services or other virtual addresses, and it will ask for a business proof of address document.
  • A description of your products or services, a website link if you have one, your reason for using Wise, and your expected monthly transaction volumes.
  • Details of every person or entity that directly or indirectly owns 25% or more: full name, date of birth, address, email and title.
  • For non-US owners, a copy of a photo ID. US owners give an SSN.
  • Names, dates of birth and countries of residence of directors.

Wise says it cannot onboard businesses from Nevada or US territories (Virgin Islands, Guam, Mariana Islands) because of licensing limits. If you have not formed your LLC yet and Wise matters to you, do not choose Nevada. Our LLC state fee comparison tool helps you compare other states.

The address rule matters for non-resident owners. A registered agent address or a mail forwarding address, including ours, is not a trading address. Give the real place you work, even if it is in your own country, and keep a document that shows it.

Wise Business for a UK Ltd

Wise runs a separate verification process for UK and EEA businesses, described in its help center. The core records are the same ones Companies House holds for your company, so have these ready before you start:

  • Your company number and certificate of incorporation
  • Registered office address and the physical address where you trade
  • Names and details of directors and of people with significant control
  • A clear description of what the company sells, with your website

Every UK director also has to verify their identity with Companies House. That is a separate check, done by you through GOV.UK One Login; see our Companies House identity verification guide. If you are still setting up the company, start with UK company formation for non-residents.

Where Wise cannot onboard you

Wise’s rules depend on where you live as well as where the company is registered. Wise’s page on where you need to live to hold money with Wise lists the countries and territories where you can hold money. Some notes from that page and Wise’s other articles:

  • United States: listed, but you cannot hold money if you live in Nevada.
  • United Kingdom: listed.
  • India: listed, but only for holding money while traveling overseas.
  • Bahrain, Israel and Malaysia: personal accounts only, not business accounts.
  • Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the UAE: not on the list.
  • Pakistan: Wise’s own Pakistan article says residents of Pakistan cannot directly sign up for Wise accounts.

Wise does not state on these pages how it treats a US LLC or UK Ltd whose owners all live in a country that is not listed. That is decided in Wise’s own review, and we cannot confirm it in advance. We tell you what the published pages say before you apply, and we never suggest hiding where you live.

What is included and not included

  • Included: an eligibility check against Wise’s published rules, a document pack (formation documents, EIN letter or Companies House records, operating agreement or share details, ownership details, address proof), a website and business description check, filling in the application with you, help with verification requests, and a portal record.
  • Not included: approval promises, identity checks on your behalf, holding your login, accounts in anyone else’s name, virtual or borrowed addresses, and legal or tax advice.

How it works

  1. Order and intake. Start your order, tell us where you live and where the company is registered, and we check Wise’s published rules first.
  2. Secure document upload. Upload your company documents, EIN letter or company number, ID and address proof through the portal. Our security page explains how we handle them.
  3. Preparation. We match every name, address and number across your documents and draft your business description, use case and expected volumes.
  4. Application with you. You create your own Wise login and we complete the business details together. You take your own ID photos and selfie on your phone.
  5. Verification follow-up. If Wise asks for proof of address or more detail, we prepare the reply with you and track it in your portal.
  6. Decision. Wise verifies the business or declines. We explain what options remain if it declines.

What we need from you

  • US LLC: articles or certificate of formation, EIN letter (CP575 or 147C) and operating agreement.
  • UK Ltd: certificate of incorporation and your company number.
  • A photo ID for you and every other owner of 25% or more.
  • A recent document showing the physical address where you trade.
  • Your website link, what you sell, who your customers are and roughly how much you expect to move each month.

Timelines

Wise does not publish a fixed business verification time on the pages we checked, so we do not quote one. Our team starts as soon as your intake and documents are complete.

Doing it yourself vs using us

You can open a Wise Business account yourself by paying the setup fee and following Wise’s steps, and plenty of founders do. Our service is useful when your documents come from different sources, your address situation is not simple, or you want someone to check the application before you submit it. We make sure the details match your filings, prepare the business description, and help you answer Wise’s questions quickly. If you live somewhere Wise’s pages say it cannot serve, we tell you and suggest Payoneer or other routes instead. For US dollar banking, also see Mercury account setup and our payment account overview.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Wise Business account cost?

Wise charges a one-time setup fee: 31 USD on its US business pricing page and 50 GBP on its UK page. There is no monthly fee shown. You then pay per transaction, for example 6.11 USD to receive a USD wire or Swift payment.

Can I open a Wise account in Pakistan?

Not directly. Wise’s Pakistan article says residents of Pakistan cannot directly sign up for Wise accounts. Your overseas clients can still use Wise to send money to your Pakistani bank account in PKR.

Can my Nevada LLC open a Wise Business account?

No. Wise says it cannot onboard businesses from Nevada or from US territories such as the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Mariana Islands, because of licensing limits.

What does Wise ask non-US owners for instead of an SSN?

A copy of a photo ID. Wise also asks for the full name, date of birth, address, email and title of every person owning 25% or more of the company.

Does Wise charge to receive US dollars?

Wise’s US pricing page shows receiving domestic payments (not wires or Swift) as free, and a fixed 6.11 USD per payment for USD wire and Swift payments.

Is Wise Business available if I live in the UAE?

The UAE does not appear on Wise’s list of countries where you can hold money. Whether Wise onboards a US or UK company owned by a UAE resident is decided in its review, so check with Wise’s current pages before you apply.
